The Summer Beet

Happy Solstice!

With summer upon us and the sun shining its brightest light, solstice is no place for hiding. However, this year we get some added high beams from a few other celestial visitors. Planet Uranus, the relentless deconstructor of deceit and illusion, has completed its 84-year cycle around the sun, returning to the first sign of the zodiac, daredevil Aries. Joined by Jupiter who likes to serve it up large, and opposed by Saturn who reminds us to live within our means, it's time for upheaval, unexpected events, and big change with an eye toward moderation. Think big-gushing-oil-spill laying bare our collective wasteful ways and presenting an opportunity to make fundamental changes toward conservation and more prudent use of the earth's resources. The Spring Beet

springWith the days catching up to the nights again it seems that the fauna, flora and critters have suddenly emerged from their winter slumbers, just to say: "I'm here!" Don't know about you, but there's something so exciting and giddy-worthy about spring time. Like something is going to happen, but you don't know what! There's a first time for everything, and what would life be without first times? That's what spring represents, that playful energy in all of us that is still capable of marveling at the little thrills and unknowns of life, despite the fact that we spend most of our time trying to get our groove and routine going.

This is going to be more than just a baker's dozen of tunes: Dress up as your astrological sign or have fun guessing others' costumes. Win a reading and other goodies in our astro raffle. Learn the ways of the zodiac from evolutionary astrology master Steven Forrest's creative interludes. Our good friends Love, Isabel (Cat Galimidi, David Penner, & ex-Chemystry Set percussionist Avi Rose) will open the show and Luke Thomas Trio (featuring Chemystry Set drummer Dickie Ogden) will bring it home for the night owls with their rump-shaking grooves and infectious feel-good vibes.
