The Winter Beet: Why I'm still an optimist...

Solstice Greetings! It’s been a while since my last dip into the beet spread, so with the sun going south I thought this would be an opportune time for a gentle tug on the soul vine. In many ways, the long hours of darkness are probably best suited for silence and reflection. Especially in this era of much digital dilution in our dialectic diets, the thought of cramming a few more words into the last dig deeper

A solstice message from ancient roots

It is quite puzzling that cultures across much of the northern hemisphere have chosen the season when the earth’s tilt provides for much darkness and quiet as the time to be out and about, shopping for gifts, frequently tripping over each other in the pursuit of the last minute deal. Wouldn’t it be more intuitive, even logical, to adapt to the earth’s rhythm, shed our external leaves, tune into the winter landscapes of our mind, dig deeper

If Music Ruled the World...

Happy Solstice, everyone! The longest, most sunlight-filled day in the Northern Hemisphere feels like a good occasion to talk about visions. Visions by nature are somewhere in the distance, perhaps reachable, perhaps not. Where we stand right now is the result of past visions, some of them good, some of them bad, much of it in the eye of the beholder. Without vision, however, we stand still.
